Jori Cashene

Facilitator – Guest Artist

Jori Anne Cachene is an Anishinaabe artist currently practicing out of Regina, Sk. Jori’s use of traditional, mystical, and natural symbolism capture intersectional themes of Indigeneity, identity, feminism, and environmentalism in her work.

While mainly a painter, Jori also works in a variety of mediums that include acrylic, watercolor, ink, found object, fabric, and has an affinity for journaling, film making, photography, digital media and songwriting. Jori finds great pleasure in being a part of the arts community in Regina which has brought her many opportunities to work on community arts projects within the city. When not painting, Jori works as an Arts Educator and Guidance Counsellor with Regina Public Schools. As well, Jori feels passionate about mental health and wellbeing and that has led her to train and work in the areas of hypnotherapy, trauma resolution, and sacred development.

Jori has worked with us in our studio on quite a few occasions. She has hosted workshops dealing with themes of identity as well as self portraiture. She has worked on teepee liners in our space and has most recently led a workshop where she helped us paint our very own teepee!
